Internal Candidates only do you apply anyway

I am applying for jobs at hospitals in my area but as a new cna with no acute experience I know it will be challenging. I have been seeing a few positions that say internal candidates only but I am wondering if there is a chance anyway. I have seen a couple of positions up for several weeks now and if they haven't found the right person I would like to believe it could be me  I am applying to nights, weekends, on call, part time, whatever it takes to get my foot in the door. What do you guys think? What would you do and why?

While job searching as a new grad RN, I did come across & applied to a few "internal candidates only" positions. But after working a while & seeing the hiring process from "within", I realized when they say "internal candidates only"...they really mean it (at least that is the case at my work for RN positions). So I would say, if the application is relatively short & easy then go for it! But if it's long & complicated, then your time might be better spent elsewhere.

IMO, I'd be more likely to apply to an "experience required" position as a new grad, than to apply to an "internal applicants only" position as a new grad who wasn't an internal applicant.

Usually "internal applicant only" positions are posted to give the current staff first crack at the job. Or--and more likely--they've already selected the internal applicant for the position but are required by HR policy to post the job anyway.

I can't answer for RN jobs, but at my current job, they're legally required to post the job even though there's not a chance in hell of anyone outside our org getting the job. I figure thats a huge waste of time to apply. Also, it might be up for a couple weeks because it has to be posted for a certain amt of time before it can be pulled

If you already work there, you ARE an internal candidate. Apply!

Chances are, they've already chosen the internal candidate before they even posted the job.
