Prompt intervention/prompt notifcation of MD's Research

Can anyone direct me to a couple of pieces of research related to early intervention/early notification of Physicans of patient assessment.

I am in the Uk and am having difficulty locating research material related to the importance of early intervention/notification of physicians by nurses in relation to patient assessment.

Any pointers would be gratefully recieved, I have spent many mnay long hours trying to find a couple of articles I can refer to.

Thanks
