I'm happy to read that there were no big problems -- and that your friend did so well. Now you have some good ideas about things you might do if something like that happens again.

llg,

This is sage advice~thanks so much! By the way, could you recommend a book about classroom management techniques?

Had another instructor do her final check off, and she scored the highest grade in the class! Its a standard check off list, so differences in the person doing the grading isn't very significant. Besides, the other instructor is the one who taught me how to do it!

So thanks all for the advice!

That is Excellent! I am glad all went well and your friend passed and all is well between the both of you.

I'm not an educator, but went to school in an area where everyone knew everyone.

Here is how they did the grading system:

For multiple choice...obviously, this isn't an issue.

For essays and papers....students put the last 4 digits of their social security number on the papers..the papers were graded first...then matched up with the names after they were graded by the teaching assistant and the teaching assistant recorded them...THEN the instructor reviewed who got what.

We all thought that system was fair.

The best book on classroom management techniques, and really a guide for faculty is Billings and Halstead "Teaching in Nursing, A guide for faculty." Its from Saunders ISBN 978-1-4160-4084-2. Good luck

Yep, read that one. Was one of my grad school texts.
Thanks!
