Hi. Right now I am towards the end of my RN to BSN at an online school (Chamberlain College of Nursing). I want to go on to becaome a nurse educator, but I am torn b/w what type of grad school to attend. I like where I am at and I feel i learn a lot at this online school, but I want to teach in a non-online class setting. Is it better to stay where I am (online school) to obtain my MSN in education or to go to a non-online type setting for grad school? Does it really matter? Does it make a difference how you teach student nurses? I would like to hear from both types of educators - those who have obtained their MSN online and those who have not. Looking forward to reading responses!

Are you planning on getting some clinical experience under your belt before you move onto MSN? At our school (One of your "sister programs" Carrington) we have people that have on-line MSNs and they are very solid teachers. Almost all of them have some work in their specialty to back it up.

I worked in Education with a BSN then did my grad work online. I believe the experience plus the education was necessary and it did not matter if I got the education online or not.

I have been a nurse for almost 9 years. My specialty is in pediatrics.

This may be a stupid question, but how did you work in education prior to obtaining your MSN? Did you work as a hospital educator, such as when a new nurse comes in, they teach classes that pertain to the hospital and/or unit the nurse works on?
