Which would YOU choose! Please help me deicde

by jamonit

Would you rather have a job in telemetry at Mayo Clinic Hospital, with possible 4-6 patients (night shift)

--or--

Take a job at St. Joe's in Neuro-telemetry with 4 patients (night shift)?

Pay is comparable. Which do you think would be a better environment for a nurse with 5 months previous experience....?

I would take the tele over the neuro any day........but that is only because neuro is not my thing.

I'd say go for the neuro with a 4 patient assignment. Which area do you have more of an interest in? That will help you decide. If you hated learning neuro and have no interest in it....you probably will hate working on a neuro floor.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

Also, don't let the hospital name cloud your judgment on what is best. The big name hospitals often pay less and have a weaker benefit package due to their name and prestige. Just because you don't work at Mayo, Hopkins, Duke, Baylor, Vanderbilt. Barnes-Jewish, Beth Israel, etc. doesn't mean you won't get a great experience. Just look and explore your pros and cons and go with your gut. Good luck!
