Work part-time at a laser hair removal place as new grad rn?

  1. So, I graduated with a BSN in December 2016, and got my license in May 2017. It's been 9 months since graduating & I still have not been able to find a job. My goal/dream is to become a public health nurse (currently in California) & I have applied to several counties. I do not ever want to work as a bedside nurse at a hospital.

Currently, it's been a long waiting game of hearing back from the counties & I am STILL jobless. Would it be a bad or good idea to take a part-time RN position at a laser hair removal place in the meantime? Would this look bad to future public health nursing employers if I have this laser hair removal experience instead of a hospital experience? I'd think that ANY experience is better than complete unemployment, right? I want to note that I have also joined a public health nursing association, joined the local Medical Reserve Corps, and am volunteering at a child abuse prevention non-profit.

Would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

If I were you, I would take the part time laser hair removal job.

I'm just jealous that you can live without taking a job. I have met a few new graduates from your state in my hospital because they are desperate for a nursing job.
