Where to start?

I've always been interested in the medical field and i think nursing is where i want to go, but I'm not sure where to start. I was thinking of starting at the community college level and going from there. do you have any advice?

I think you should start looking into your local community colleges and see what they offer. If you want to get your RN (associates) you can get it in 2 years at a Community College. If you want your RN (bachelors) you most likely need to get information from a Major University. When you look in to schools find out as much information as you can, like how much, how is their pass rate is for the NCLEX (nursing board test), and if there is a wait list for entering nursing school. A lot of areas are experiencing a wait, some schools in our area are 1-2 years wait list. Call local hospitals and see what schools they have experience with as far as the quality of nurses the schools are turning out.

I would recommend looking at the available programs in your area. chances are there's a good amout of pre-reqs you'll have to complete before you can apply. Call the schools and talk to someone in the nursing department, see what they have to say.

You should talk to addmissions at your local school. Community college is a great way to go. It's cheaper and quicker than the university level. However getting a university level BSN offers it's own advantages.
