hi everyone, :o

im in school to get my associates in ems to become a certified paramedic. I wont start my emt courses until october, but i was wondering, i've heard from alot of people that its better to work as a paramedic for like a fire department then it would be to work in a hospital or a private ambulance company. An then ive heard from other people that its better to work at the hospital. So im super confused an have no idea which would be the best choice. Any one have any advice??

Some of our medic friends might be able to speak to that, but in case no one here can answer your question, try a couple of these forums:

You probably need to check on the laws & rules/regs that govern scope of practice in your state.

EMTs & Paramedics are trained and certified as 'first responders' not inpatient care providers. In many states - mine included - these folks are considered "unlicensed assistive providers" in inpatient settings so that severely limits the things that they can do. This would obviously impact your job satisfaction.
