Telephonic Case Management Question

Nurses Career Support

Hi all!

I was recently offered a position as a case manager for United Healthcare. It is in office training for about 6 months and then moves to a home office. I have a great job now that is in an office so the working from home part would be great but I am curious what a typical day is like for home office telephonic RN's. Are you on the phone all day long, is there flexibility, do you have breaks in the day where you could pick your kids up from school etc? Tell me about your typical day....I cant decide if this is something I want to do or not. Thanks in advance!

Hi all good day. I am a RN with over ten years experience. I myself am looking for a job where I can work from home. I don't have a BSN but will be doing it come January 2014. If anyone know of a company that will hire a Rn for a telephonic RN job without a BSN could let me know I would really be grateful. I have applied to many but I think they are not interested since I do not have a BSN. Thanks in advance. Can also email me at [email protected]. Thanks in advance to you all.

Specializes in Emergency.

OP Did you take this job? I am looking at a very similar if not the same position wondering how you like it?

I know you posted this several years ago, but, did you accept the position? I'm looking in to a similar position with United. Your response is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys!!

does anyone know if you can doing any travel nursing as a telephonic nurse case manager?

Specializes in Pediatrics & Telemetry.

I'm interviewing for a field case manager at United. I originally applied to the telephonic position and then after speaking to the HR lady who did my initial phone interview today she told me that they only had field CM positions open at this time. So I scheduled myself to interview for the field position in June. Could anyone give me any insight for this position in terms of hours, requirements, case load, etc. I'm needing the flexibility due to school and curious if this position would be able to offer that?

Specializes in Informatics; Labor & Delivery; Med-Surg.

How did the interview go? Did you take the position? How do you like it?

Hi great comments and info.  I am working in a hospital clinic but have over 30 years critical care and want to do case management teleworking.  I do a lot of case management work at my current job but noted you cannot sit for the certification exam unless you have one year full time as a case manager. My question is will I be able to find a job as a case mgr that will train and have Tele working when I retire next year at 62. Long term would like to work part time Tele working and travel to Spain etc. Happy nurses week, I know how hard everyone works physically, emotionally exhausting on every level you guys rock!
