Taken off schedule by new DON !!!!

I have been working over 2 yrs. 2-3 days a week, PRN....usually short staffed and sometimes only one nurse for up to 35 pts....always had a monthly schedule and knew what days I had to work...
Well new co. took over and new DON has hired 6 nurses....I understand we needed some...but I called today to verify my two days this week and was told I was taken off schedule due to all the new nurses !!!
They told me I will be used for "call offs"....well, just what I want, to be called at 5:30 AM to come in at 7 !!!!!! I am apalled....I don't know what to do......Any suggestions?????

they did ask me if I wanted full time....but I declined....I liked the way it was....one, two, sometimes 3 a week and I could more or less pick my days....I asked for a steady same 2 days a week, but was told they needed me different days so I stayed with that....this is the first I have ever worked PRN....is that usually the way it is? no days, just call you for call outs????
I liked getting a monthly schedule and knowing what days I had....I am so mad, after being there the longest of most, and going to whatever unit they ask me to go to, I feel used, abused and thrown away....

They gave you the option of going full time and you declined, so they went ahead with their own agenda. Often happens with new bosses. You have been given the circumstances and a strong hint to look for work elsewhere. Unless you want to stay at this place by going full time, if I were you I would look for a new job.

I think you are right.....I just dread the thought of job hunting again and I really liked the area I was working in....oh well....I may stay on just to see if I get any calls for awhile but will start looking.....thank for reply....I felt the same way...just dread going through it all again elsewhere...
