Nurses Career Support

Published

Does anyone know if the state registries, both for CNAs and/or RNs, are crawled by search engines like Google?

Basically, if you search your name, does it turn up a result from your state registry?

There is a third party website that is indexed by google (something like allnursinglicenses.com and it's not 100% accurate) but not the majority state databases. There is somewhat of a central national database for licensed nurses Nursys.

Not all states have the BoN certify CNAs. Some states it's the department of health or another government division.

I've never seen my license information pop up from a Google search. But if someone is Googling me, they know my name and therefore have all the information they need to get my nursing license number. I don't really see why any of this is a big deal though.

There are reasons. People who are victims of domestic violence. People with stalkers. It probably isn't a big deal for most people.

Well if a nurse is a victim of domestic violence, presumably the abuser knows that he/she is a nurse, no? The public listings don't give out much information. I don't think anyone could start stalking me based on knowing when my nursing license expires.

Well, you could have had a career change. But I was thinking more like it would pop up what state you were registered in, so presumably what state you lived in.

It's fine, I think the first person answered the question :)

I'm not aware of any way you can search for a license without specifying the state, since each state has its own BoN which grants licenses. Even on Nursys which has access to all states' databases, you have to specify which state you are searching. If I google my name + nurse nothing from the BoN comes up at all.
