Should I take this offer?

Nurses Career Support

Published

I've just started my first semester of clinicals in the RN program, and I've been asked by one of the nurses at the nursing home where we do our clinicals if I would like to work there as a CNA during my off time. I have two days a week where I don't have clinicals or class, and I am doing pretty well as far as my grades. Usually, 1st semester students have to wait until after the 1st semester is over to qualify to work as a CNA, but I'm wondering if this offer might be something I should look into. I have noticed that both my clinical instructor and the nurses at this particular nursing home tend to find me first when something needs to be done, but I'm not sure if the experience would be worth the juggling I would have to do. Any advice?

I recommend being a CNA while your in nursing school. It will definately help you with your clinicals and with being a nurse in the future.
