Are you already an RN and have been working an RN in those units?

I don't have my BSN yet, but am going to work on it.

My spouse had a BSN and used it to get a position in administration as a house supervisor. He then got a Masters in Health Care Administration and used that to get an even better job where education mattered.

There are plenty of opportunities that require a BSN, depends on what your goals are.

I have a BSN and have a serious matter, I am bailing out of nursing and no longer want to deal with nursing period. But, since I have a four year degree, am wondering how I can make it work for me? Share what you know, it will certainly help me in my plight...

I have had a major ordeal within the context of my career and I no longer wish to continue working as a floor nurse or for any hospital as an RN. My BSN will do what for me at this point, if the position requests for a nurse, then I am not going to fit. I do not want to exercise my nursing ability whatsoever!! I am done with the varied abuses received and or implied or experienced by others. What then are my options? As far as I am concerned, any and all states can make their silly claims of the nursing shortage crisis...but unless some serious changes are made to respect the field of nursing, count me out.

i have been a RN for almost 5 years, i have split my time in both med/surg & ER.
i am almost finished with my BSN.
i was wondering what others had done with thier BSN.
such as;what were they able to contribute to their unit/organization?
how did it affect their career and what changes they were able to make +&-.

i was 33 when i graduated and received my RN.
it was difficult at times. but i have to say it was worth it.
i am now almost 38 and close to BSN.
i have met some really fantastic nurse along the way.
i have found the majority of them encouraging.
i was scared too at many points along my path, but i learned more and fear kind of became a motivator.
if you want your LVN, i say go for it!

First - to the OP. When I finished my BSN (May 2004) I was able to get a case management job.

Michelleicu - you are still very young! I went back to school at 30 for my LPN, 34 for my ADN, 44 for my BSN, and 46 for the MSN!! You can do it if I can!!!

Totally burned. If you have a bachelor's degree it can open a lot of other doors that have nothing to do with nursing.

It would probably help, though to take a few basic business courses if you haven't already.

There are so many nursing opportunities that require little or no patient contact, though, and your expertise can help a lot.

I am 35 and working on my BSN. Why? I want to teach clinicals to RN's and I am not able to do so without a BSN. I also value education and actually enjoy most of the coursework. It may take me another year or 2 but who cares? I will turn 37 in 2 years anyhow. Might as well have my degree and my birthday to celebrate.
