Public vs Private ?

I'm only a junior in high school, so this doesn't affect me immediately, but I wanted to know because I have a list of about 3-4 schools I am interested in for nursing. I was wondering though, is it stupid to pay big money to go to a private 4year university for a BSN?
Here's my list (all in Mass.)

Curry College - private, but very good program (100% pass rate on NCLEX)
UMass Boston - public
UMass Amherst - public
Mass College of Pharmacy/Health Sciences - private, accelerated 3year program

So, is it a waste of money to shell out $24,000 a year when I could get the same degree at my state school? Has anyone gone to a private school for nursing/was it worth it?
Also, your thoughts on accelerated programs...
Thanks so much

No it's not stupid, its your CAREER!!! School is expensive, period. Keep your grades up so that you can qualify for schlorships, grants, etc.

I obviously don't know your financial situation, but if you have financial need a lot of private schools will offer need-based aid (often grants which don't need to be paid back!), so look at all your options and see what they offer you. Also, for MCPHS you'll be in the workforce a year earlier, which means you start making money earlier. So that's something to factor into your decision.

Best of luck!

My son is also a Junior in HS and I just attended a workshop about scholarships. One thing I learned it as the previous poster stated, private schools have a LOT More $$ to give away. You just need to look into it closely. I am just starting to check out "www.fastweb.com". It looks like there is a ton of scholarship info there. Good luck! I"m sorry I can't comment on those schools/ not familiar with them!
