People trying to persuade you out of your field

Has anyone ever had a friend or family member try to persuade them to switch fields in Nursing?

After finally getting a comprehensive maternity/L+D experience, I decided I love it. Absolutely love it more than any other clinical rotation I've had thus far. In talking with my aunt at Thanksgiving (who's in a Boston OR), she said right out to me "well, I'm going to try my hardest to persuade you to change. You could get ICU easily."

Um, yeah. No. I've had this happen so often with older family members or family friends. Whenever I mention L+D I get the eye rolls. Am I missing something here, do they think I'm in the honeymoon phase of it?

Most of my family is clueless as to what I do, so it doesn't happen to me at all.

Just smile and tell them you're very happy right now.
