Not at all. I have not worn a skirt/dress on any interviews in my life. That includes 20 years in computer engineering jobs and 2 years nursing/nurse practitioner. So far have hiring rate of about 99% for any interview - so pretty sure it is not because I wore pants.

I do wear professional suit/outfit, not casual pants. You dont dress for the job, but for the professional position you want to be considered for. I was always taught to dress for the potential for your future in any job.

Now I am not a nurse, so I have never been on an interview in the nursing career, but I don't think that would make you look unprofessional at all! Suits with either pants or a skirt both look very professional. Good luck on your interview!

If it's a true suit (never any twill or knits) and not separates put together, I think this is perfectly acceptable.

However, I always wear hose and heels no matter how hot it is. If the jacket is not double-breasted, I have often wore a scarf wrapped and tucked instead of a blouse and I invested in a good quality of costume jewelry faux pearl set (bracelet, earrings, and necklace)...I paid $100 for a set and I've had them for 12 years and they still look new.

Good luck!

I wore a suit with trousers instead of a skirt in july this year for my job interview as an RN, and I got the job. I think as long as what you are wearing looks smart and professional, it is better to wear trousers if that is what you feel more comfortable in.
