NursingStudent needs advice

Unfortunately, there is a wait list at most Community Colleges (the local Community Colleges in Michigan are between 2-7 year wait)!

Have you thought about getting your BSN? There is not a "wait list" for many of these programs, but they are very competitive.

Maybe you could work as a CNA or PCA at a hospital or LTC facility, to "get your feet wet" and get some exposure while you are waiting.

I went the BSN route. It will take me a little longer and cost more $$, but it beats playing the waiting game.

I am so glad I read this, I am also finishing my Pre Req. my husband is currently in the Navy, and his supervisors wife is currently a CNA and going to Nursing school. I told her I was having trouble with time for both work and school. My work doesn't like to let me off for school. She said she would be able to get me on with her at the hospital. And they would work around my college hours and help me through school. Also the nurses that I would work with quiz you all the time and support you every step of the way. Then I was telling a couple other people that I was seriously thinking about doing this, and they told me it was a stupid idea, that is is hard work and they wouldn't advise me to do it. But who are they to even know. Then they told me I should do the LPN program, then the RN program. This is honestly stressing me out. I am know so confused I really don't know what to do. But I feel deep down that it is the best thing to do.

I also was getting pre-req's for an ASN while waiting for the LIST. I have decided to get a BSN now and i will graduate earlier thatn if I had stuck with the ASN route. In my area the wait for the 2 year schools is 4 semesters.

If going private is a possibility check them out. There are many private colleges without waiting lists. Good luck
