Hello, I am thinking of going back to school and study RN. Are there any good community colleges in Atlanta that are offering RN in their program?
Good for you for going back to school. I just recently did the same thing myself. Georgia Perimeter Lawrenceville just started what's called a Learning Community for pre-nursing majors. The purpose of the program is to allow pre-nursing students to go through the pre-nursing and rigorous nursing experience together. It will be a win-win situation for both the school and the Learning Community students because by participating in the program you can get any extra assistance in any of your courses, you'll have a strong bond of peers around you because you're talking the same courses at the same time, and the school retention rate for the nursing program should increase.
You have to commit to be available Monday - Friday 8am - 3pm even if you don't have a class scheduled so that you can be available for any study sessions, or speakers that are invited in to talk to the Learning Community students. The advantage of being selected is that you have guaranteed spots in all of your classes and guaranteed accepted into the nursing program beginning the following fall as long as you maintain the required 2.5 science GPA and pass the Nursing Entrance Test exam.
I am in the first Learning Community at the Lawrenceville campus. We will complete our prereqs by the end of the summer and begin the nursing program Fall 2005.
It's a sacrifice because of the 8am - 3pm commitment; however, you can't beat the benefits.
