Nurse Moving to The States

Hi!

I'm a Swedish student, starting nursingschool next year (Red cross). Unfortunatly, nurses are extremely underpaid in Sweden, and my plan is to work abroad for most of the time. Developing countries mainly, but I'm also curious about the US. I understand there is a shortage in the market for nurses now, is that right? In the US generally, or in specific states? Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to obtain a green card based on the nursing profession?

Thankful for any advice!

PS. Just to let you know - The average pay for RNs age 30-39 in Sweden is about $30000/year. It's an absloute disgrace if you ask me!

/Carolin.

Yes, there is a need in the US. Hope that you are doing a four-year program, as a two-year diploma will not be accepted for a green card.
If you go to the International section and look at the "sticky" for working in the US, you can get all of the information.
