No Sense of Smell

I know this sounds like an odd question. I'm interested in becoming a nurse. I'm unable to smell and I'm just unsure if this would hinder me in any way? Any thoughts from those who have gone through nursing school and worked in the profession would be greatly appreciated!

I work with a nurse with no sense of smell from birth. Actually I'm jealous that she can deal with the "smells" of nursing with such ease.

Smell is part of assessment, such as noting the smell of infectious things like wounds and urine. Some people swear their's a distinct smell to c-diff poop, but I can't tell.

However, it really shouldn't be a problem.

I agree, it shouldn't be a problem. In fact, it may become a blessing in disguise! There are some very unpleasant smells involved in nursing.
