New grad with 2 new jobs..problem!

Nurses Career Support

Published

I'm a new grad and need advice! I was offered jobs with the 2 places I did my pre-grad placements with, and I accepted, as they are both part-time, and I need money pretty badly. Plus, I really liked both places.

The problem is, neither one of my bosses is willing to work around the other place's schedule. One of my bosses hinted to me that she has a permanent full-time position available, and I'm thinking of taking it, as I would also have benefits. I would feel bad quitting the other job though, as I have just started my training and I hate disappointing people.

My husband says to just do what's right for me and to stop worrying about other people's feelings. I just wish I knew what to do!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

I would have to agree with your husband. Take the full time position. Maybe you can pick up shifts at the other place on weekends or something?

I agree with your husband, but you must also see what you want to do. It is your time and you should use it how you want to. GOOD LUCK

Congratulations! I'm sure your vacancy as a New Grad nurse will be picked up quickly and be much appreciated by another applicant. It is said that you can't have 2 masters.

I agree with your husband. Do what is right for you. People do this all the time. Quite frequently employers will work around the other schedule. These people are trying to put you in a bind on purpose without concern for your ability to pay your bills on part time pay. Expect such one-sided attitudes in the work place. It is common, and the reason why you should look out for yourself.
