Re: Need some advice ...
I had a bachelor's in business, but ultimately chose to go the ASN route as I wasn't willing to commit to the time of an accelerated BSN program at this point in my life. I had heard they were very time consuming and I wasn't sure if I would need to work and go to school and wasn't ready for totally crazy in my life. The BSN program was
thousands of dollars to complete; my ASN was less than $4000 total. I can go to work now, get tuition reimbursement, and complete the BSN at my own pace.
Now that I am close to getting my ASN, I plan to go back for my BSN once I am off orientation and training as a new grad. I understand that a local university offers a program that will only require 7 or 8 classes that are offered in 8-week sections. Additionally, there's also supposed to be another university that offers an online BSN. I haven't checked too closely in to either due to time constraints right now, but they're both reputable schools here in town.
To my knowledge, there's only one hospital in town that offeres a differential of .50/hour for a BSN over an ASN.
Anyway, that's why I made the choice I did. Good luck!!
