I'm currently taking microbiology. as soon as lab starts I begin to feel very nauseated and start getting a head ache. Just out of curiousity, is it just me or has it happened to others as well?

It could be related to chemical sensitivity. Micro labs usually have a plethora of chemicals in the air such as formalin & various other preservative solutions as well as sanitizing chemicals. I'm sensitive to any formaldehyde-ish substances... very noticeable if I am around new carpet installations, cheap paneling, or other types of materials that tend to "off gas" when they're new.

I felt very similar in lab because I sat next to the incubator. Certain types of bacteria or viruses would make me just want to gag and if anyone walked by just to open, I'd get really annoyed because it smelled. I just adapted to it after a while. You could always try a dab of perfume, or something that smells good to you, under your nose.
