CNA is offered as a challenge opportunity in some states after completion of nursing 1/nursing fundamentals. In Ny, NJ or CT (and other states) RN students are not eligible to challenge the LPN exam. For NY: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/nurse2EQelim.htm
. Note that programs in other states are different. Some RN programs are designed that one can sit for the NCLEX-PN after completion of their first year with permission of the program director, just not in others.
