I apologize if this has been discussed before:

I am inquiring as to what my fellow nurses on here believe to be the least stressful nursing job/specialty. I know the answers to this question can vary for a multitude of factors, (age of the nurse, education, location etc.) but really just looking for people to talk about their experience and the jobs where they have felt the least stressed. Please discuss how you may have felt in some of your jobs.

Thank you all in advance :)

I do in home case management. Least stressful job I have ever had. No direct nursing care. You get to know your patient and have time to teach and educate about ways to improve their health.

Public health nursing, pediatric GI office are not particularly stressful, although they have their moments. Peds onc/BMT was usually very stressful. GI lab (endoscopy/colonoscopy) was busy but not usually stressful.

i was a trauma nurse for a few years before needing to find a lower stress avenue. dialysis appeared to be a solution until i got involved and realized that the hourse required was draining. i then moved to pacu. if you can find yourself a job at a day surgery center for opthamology you will find it low stress. stress is relative though. although acuit of the patient population may be lower, you may find that there is more pressure in getting patients in and out. some doctors want to get in as many cases as humanly possible, and many times expect more than humanly possible.
