Keck Hospital of USC RN Versant Program March 2014

Nurses Career Support

Published

Has anyone applied to the USC Keck Hospital Versant RN Residency Program (App filing period 10/7-14) for March 2014 employment? I would like to start a forum and update each other about the process! If previous applicants have gone through their residency programs before feel free to share your thoughts on the processes and experience!

Good luck everyone!

@LR_RN26

Thank you so much for all the information. Do you know if they already have all their interviews scheduled for OR program? I too applied for OR and unfortunately did not receive an email...wondering if I may still or if it's a done deal?

P.S. Best of luck on your interview? When is it, may I ask?

I have no idea. I just got the email today. They haven't called me to schedule the interview yet.

I just got an email today saying that I am moving on to the panel interviews for the OR Training Program. I was interviewed for one of the units for their Versant Program during the summer, but unfortunately was rejected. I am happy they selected me again for an interview, but have a dilemma.

I was hired as a Relief Nurse (per-diem) in PICU for one of the LA County hospitals. I will probably start some time in the new year. Also I am currently doing the EPIC position for Providence while I wait for my nursing job to start. If I were selected for the OR Training Program it would be such great experience to work for USC, but I would have to give up my job with the county (which in the long-term would be really great!). Also, I don't want to be pigeon holed into perioperative nursing, but am also petrified of working in the PICU because I am a new grad!

Regardless, I feel so blessed for the opportunities I am getting. For all the new grads please don't lose faith! Your day will come sooner or later! I waited 7-8 months after I graduated! Just keep applying and when you least expect it, something(s) will come your way!

Do you happen to have your BSN or ADN. Congrats

I do have a BSN.

LR_Rn26 huge congrats!!!! I would just go through the interview process and at the same time continue with LA and Providence. The USC program doesn't start until March, so you still have plenty of time to make a decision. In that time just be honest with your supervisors, they will understand and appreciate the honesty.

I am in a similar position, as I just got picked up by LA County and of course hoping for an interview with USC. Fingers still crossed on that one! :) Quick question, did your application status change on USC's site?

Awesome for you too! It didn't change. My old applications all stayed the same when I got interviews.

Hi there and congrats! When did you apply for the LA Count position? Is this for Olive View or LAC+USC?

Hello all, I heard that the OR candidates who are being considered have all been contacted via email already. Does anyone happen to know if this is true? I am still hoping I will be contacted for the OR program but starting to lose hope. Thank you all very much.

@ swtlilngel, Thank you!! I originally applied to LA County in May! I received the email about the work styles assessment exam in the middle of August and received my certification letter in the mail about 3.5 weeks later. After that I just waited for a call, until I got tired of waiting and started calling the County Hospitals asking if they had any open positions. The very first call I made turned into an interview. The first interview went really well (at least I think it did!) and was called back for a second one with the nurse managers from MedSurg. Oh, and this was at Olive View. It is an incredibly long process, but from what I understand is well worth it! If you have received your certification letter with them I highly recommend calling the different hospitals and asking if they have any openings! If you wait for a call, you will be waiting forever. At least that was my experience. But in the end, I am still hoping for an interview for the USC New Grad Program!! Fingers crossed and best of luck! :)

I applied back in May and took my assessment test during August. I interviewed at Harbor-UCLA last week and was hired on the spot.

I just got a call today to schedule my interview. I believe they are interviewing 16 candidates for OR Training Program.

Thank you LR_RN26 and congratulations again!! It looks like I would have already been contacted if I were amongst the 16. Boo-hoo Thanks for the info!
