Jobs in Texas?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello

I am considering moving to texas as an surgical ICU RN with 8yrs exp. However with this economy, I'm wondering if I should just stay put in LA, CA for job security. I want to leave LA because housing is still too expensive or not worth the 300-500,000 they are still asking for. Anyone have any idea on how nurses are fairing in this economy in TX? Any thoughts, or comments to help with my decision would be appreciated.

i can tell you that the nurse jobs in dallas are BOOOMING. all the hospitals are hiring. the economy is not affecting us, not here in dallas, or houston or anywhere i might add. i know san antonio might be a little slow because they have like 4 or 5 nursing schools in san antonio and they are producing nurses left and right. and for 300-000, or 500,000 if thats what you are paying.. you can get a hugggee house. easily 3000 square feet 4 bedrooms maybe more and its great. i know for that price in La is horrrrible, you're only getting like what 1000 square feet 1 or 2 bedrooms... any more questions ask me.

I agree with PrettyLady - Y'all come on down! I am with an organziation that has facilities in several Texas locations. We need all kinds of nurses, but especially people with your level of experience & expertise. :yeah:

I would not expect you to have any problems landing a good job in any Texas metro area. It just depends on where you want to live. BTW, San Antonio is still going strong also. Even though they have a more generous supply of new grads, new hospitals are opening so they are recruiting. As previously mentioned, you will be very HAPPY with our housing prices. No state income tax is also a plus. We are a 'right to work' state, so union dues are not a factor either. You money will go a lot farther here.

Texas is one of my choices to find a job. how to have RN license in Texas?

Texas is one of the states where you can have a license from anywhere and work in texas. so if you had a license from lets say oklahoma, michigan. you could immediately come in texas and work.
