Hello all, I am actually a new nurse, 2 months on a med/surg oncology floor, I am suspecting that I may not want to do floor nursing forever :o Anyways, I am wondering how difficult it is to transition into clinical nursing for a person who only has floor nursing experience? If anyone has transitioned, can you tell me if it was super difficult to get into a different type of nursing?

I'm not sure what you mean by "clinical nursing" - do you mean working in an actual clinic?

2 months is not very long at all....and quite honestly it is a LOT harder to go from clinic to hospital than the other way around.

From what I understand you are doing acute care on a med/surg/oncology floor. Working on the hospital floor is different from working in a medical clinic. I have done both and prefer working in the clinic. However, it depends on what you will be doing in the clinic. Are you considering clinical oncology, med/surg or internal medicine? RNs are normally supervisors to the LVNs who provide more of the clinical nursing.
