I have an interview for a similar program with a hospital on 7/12. I'm so anxious to get it over with. I've working on this application (via reference letters, etc.) for 2 months. Finally the interview is scheduled!

Well 7/12 is right around the corner and I'm sure that you will do fine. Be honest and confident (that was real tough for me). I guess my honesty showed through anyway and overrode my lack of confidence. I am still waiting for the official contract in the mail. The hospital will give me a certain amt of money that I will use for all these pre-school expenses (books, uniforms, lab tests and equipment) as well as toward my tutition. I will still have to take out a small loan but it looks to be a 'good deal"

Received the call today!!! Not only did I get the scholarship but the director told me that they think I am awesome and looking forward to working with me. I just hope they think this when I come all green next October reporting for duty! (smile)

Thanks for the advice. I usually come across as pretty confident. In the past I've been told that I interview well. This is a new field for me, though. I don't want to be overconfident, you know? So here might be where the honesty comes into play. Lol

What kinds of questions did they ask you?

dear steph,

[color=#00ffff]been busy all weekend and this is the first time on the puter since fri. the most important thing to do at an interview is to be yourself. don't be afraid to admit that you may get anxious at interviews (they will appreciate your honesty and humaness). i was asked my 5 year goal plan-where do you want to be in 5 years? also-why do you want to be a nurse? and why do you want to work at this hospital?

[color=#00ffff]let us know how it went!

[color=#00ffff]take care,

Steph,

Just be yourself and be sincere. I also took my acceptance letter and my award letter to let them see my need!!

The interview today went well. I met separately with both the DON and the HR person. I am supposed to get a phone call by the end of the week letting me know if I was accepted. I've had a good many job interviews in my working life, and I can usually tell if I would like to work in a particular environment. I had a good "gut feeling" about this. (Of course they are recruiting and trying to impress - ha ha)

About the only question that I stumbled over a bit was the "What kind of nursing do you want/plan to do?" I was honest and told them I don't know yet. I said I hoped to get a better idea when I start my clinicals. I also said that I know I have a lot to learn, so I am open to ideas.

Dear Steph,

Sure sounds like a sure thing for you!! I'll pray that it will happen for you. I was asked the same ? about what type of nursing to get into after school and I replied just like you did...how in the heck can anyone make that choice when they haven't been exposed to the whole scene.

I received the contract for my sponsership today!!! I will receive 75% of my costs for school. That means only a small loan from the state board of ed. All I have to do is sign this baby and send it back. Well then contact my school to let them know of the new financial picture...and so on...more paper chasing and phone calls. lol

Take care,

Ted

Steph,

That was not a stumble. You were being honest and I am sure they appreciate your honesty. You will get it if you have a good feel for it. I gave God the praise even before I found out that I had received mine. I told Him that if I don't receive it then He had something else in store for me. However, He knew the desires of my heart and I asked Him for it and it was granted!

Let us know!
