Graduating May 2010, Question regarding reciprocity?

Nurses Career Support

Published

I'm graduating an ADN program this May and will be an RN. I feel like no one has told me anything regarding careers and the NCLEX. So, I'm coming here! I live in Ohio. I've been searching for jobs, but am unsure of what hospital I would like to work at. Actually, I'm not even sure which state I would like to work in. (I have the options of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.) Although I live in Ohio, there are only two Ohio hospitals close to me, both of which I do not like. I'm thinking Pittsburgh would be a better area. So, should I get licensed first in Pennsylvania? Or maybe Ohio and just get my license reciprocated? How long does it take for a license to be reciprocated? When I look at jobs online and they say "current PA license required" does that mean in order for that to be my first job, I should take my boards in PA? So many questions... graduation is sneaking up! I thank you for your help!
