Flight Nursing in the AF

Hi!
I am a student and member of AFROTC at the University of TN (knoxville) and am applying to nursing school this semester... I was wondering if anyone knew much about becoming a flight nurse... I want to be a member of an air-evacuation team but im not sure if women are even allowed to have that job? Also, it extremely competitive? And when you are not in flight... does it become just a desk job? I terrified of having a desk job!

Thanks for any and all help!
-Blair
