considering a nursing career

Hi. I am 16 years-old and considering getting my GED and going to community college to study nursing. The reasons why I picked this career are that I am a compassionate young man and want to care for people. Also, I would assume it isn't too difficult to find a job in the field no matter where you want to move to? I would like to work in pediatrics, possibly with kids that have terminal illness. Is it important to have a BSN? And would you say, generally, that nursing is a worthwhile job?
