changing specialties

Hi out there! I am new on here but am hoping someone can give me some advice. I am a RN with almost 10 years of experience. 18 months was in Med-Surg (right out of school) and the last 8.5 years has been everything from full time to part time to PRN, but all in the ER setting. I am ready for a change! I am interested in the OR, PACU, or Pre-Op setting but NO ONE will even talk to me because I don't have 2 years of OR specific experience. I am truly frustrated. I have my BLS, ACLS, ENPC, and TNCC and have taken care of my share of critical care patients in the ER. It seems with so many hospitals advertising OR openings for months at a time that they would be willing to "take a chance" on an experienced nurse and be willing to train. But so far, I am not seeing that. OR internships seem hard to come by as well. I live in the Houston area. Any advice for me?
