BON discipline post termination?

If I was recently terminated could a future employer look that up with my license? Would the Board need to notify me? I live in Ohio.

I read your other post and given what you described (regarding the coumadin error), I do not see how it would be reportable to the BON. Prospective employers check with the Board to verify your license is active, not for an employment history.

The BON doesn't have the time or desire to keep track of every nurses employment history.

Termination per se isn't going to make an impact on your license, therefore it's not going to show up.

If the reason for your termination was for example, negligence or drug diversion, and the BON took an action against your license (discipline, suspension, revocation, etc), then yes, prospective employers (and anyone else who cared to look it up-it's public information) would see it.

One of my favorite hobbies is going to the Department of Registration website and checking out the monthly "naughty nurse" list.

The board would only notify you if there was a pending investigation due to a violation of the nurse practice act. A future employer would not be able to look up pending action, nor termination from previous employers. A medication error would likely be an internal issue.
