Is this the best way to go?

I have a BA in Journalism, but I've always wanted to be a nurse. I am a stay at home Mom of 3 kids, ages 5, 7 and 9. I am planning on getting my LPN, getting a job and then taking a bridge course to get my RN. Since I already have my BA, would it be better to just go for the RN and skip the LPN? I'm thinking if I get my LPN, then I can start earning sooner...

It depends on what the job market is like for LPNs in your area and how many RN programs are available to you. Getting the LPN would be most beneficial if there are long waiting lists for RN programs. It might also help you in the admissions process. You need to research all the programs in your area, line them up side by side, talk to somebody in the counseling dept., nrsg dept. and find out admissions timing and probabilities, then make the best choice. Often, people say it is easier to get into a traditional BSN program. In your case, since you already have a 4 yr degree, you might have an accelerated BSN program available. Good luck.
