Background checks

by wincha

I am done a drug test before at my last employment. What does a background company like Choicepoint check? My credit is fine, my husbands is not right now since he is recovering from his self employment in which he had customers who still owe him money. How do they check your credit and what impact does it have on a job offer especially if mine is fine?

Default Re: Background checks
We did ChoicePoint checks at one of my previous employers.
It gave us a multistate criminal background check, address and employment history (as reported to the credit bureaus), multistate driving history and a simple credit report.
The credit report was ONLY for the applicant, a spouse has their own SSN and it is illegal to pull a credit report without consent. My company didn't pay any attention to the credit report portion unless the person was applying for a financial position.

I can tell you that using ChoicePoint in four years I had 2 nurses come up with recent out of state addresses and employers who they didn't mention on their application. A call to the BoN in those states revealed recent license revocations.

thats fine. my current employer required a blood test and a criminal check but i had to go down and take care of this myself. now companies do this. my credit is fine. my background check will be fine. i had to do this for another state to get another liscense since we take calls over state line.
