Back to school LVN-BSN should I work?

by Aqualuz

I have been an LVN for about 2 years and was recently laid off due to our research clinic closing. At the time of the lay off I was in my first couple weeks of nursing school in an LVN-BSN transition program.

I don't know if it would be best to look for full time employment or if it would be best to do agency work. I have 5 months of hospital experience and 1 1/2 years of research experience.

A lot of my fellow students say it is easy to work and go back to school but usually a lot of student don't work the last semester because it is a very full schedule. I have 3 more semesters to go with no summer classes available yet.

I am currently utilizing my severance but soon will have to use unemployment benefits. I have been looking for a job but am starting to wonder if me being in school is detrimental to the search even though it shouldn't be. I plan to continue with furthering my education regardless.

Has any one been in a similar situation? I have heard mixed things about agency work also.

I have made a pro and con list of the benefits of two out comes but I am still unsure of what would be best.
