Application draft was denied, what should I do?

I was doing my usual rounds of job hunting on all the local hospital sites this morning and found a rare gem. A job on a floor I've done a clinical rotation on, they say will precept new grads, and a very good friend of mine works there. I started filling out the application and then left it as a draft while I called my friend to be sure it was okay I use her name in the cover letter. She works nights, so she may very well be sleeping and hasn't gotten back to me yet. Then an hour ago I got a decline letter, even though the application still shows a draft status. :crying2: I'm sad, this was the warmest lead I've had and I'd really like a chance to put in a complete application!

Should I apply for the other open position on that same floor, or should I email back the lady directly who turned me down, or cold call her (eeps!) Chances are nothing will change but still!

Nevermind. I talked to my friend and she said if it's posted on the site it's just a formality and has already been filled. :( Still trying to find a grain of hope for myself.
