Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi Everyone! I'm sure everyone gets tired of this post but I have decided to ask the question one more geared towards my situation.

I graduated with my bachelor's in 2013, took majority of my prereqs for nursing programs specifically ABSN programs.

I have been accepted into a few ABSN programs and one entry level master's program [DePaul]. I am unsure of which route to take as I don't want to waste money and want to establish my career soon. I am currently living in Southern California, and all the schools I have been accepted to are out of state. I kind of want to experience something new since I have been here my whole life.

My question is, if my goal is to become a FNP, should I attend the entry level master's program at DePaul which is two years, then go back for my cert [not sure how much experience I need before applying]? Or should I attended an accelerated BSN program which is one year, then apply to an MSN-FNP program?

Also, I may come back to California as all my family is here, but has anyone went out of state just for nursing school and came back to there home state and was able to find a job?

Thank you very much, I would like to inform the programs as soon possible as my deadlines are coming up and I would like to not hold up the list for some who may be waiting.
