Advice needed for Canadian Future RN wanting to work in U.S. after graduation

Nurses Career Support

Hey everyone,

After graduation (2017)I plan on moving from Canada to the states to be with my fiance. I was wondering, what are the chances of them hiring a new grad? Has the job application process changed since Canada has shifted from CRNE to NCLEX examinations? As well, Can Canadian nurses take part in Nursing residencies in the States to obtain work experience?

If anyone out there has any experience, advice or resources for the best way to find a job in the States after graduation, I would love to hear from you! I have 3 more years left till graduation, so I'd like to prep as much as possible.

Thank you all for your time!

You will need a visa allowing you to work in the US and this will include nurse residencies. Who knows what the job situation will be like in 3 years and nothing has been mentioned as to whether the US will accept pass in NCLEX when done for Canada but I suspect they will accept it but better to check with the state you plan on living and working in
