Advice for RN interested in long-term care

Nurses Career Support

Published

After much soul-searching, I have decided that long-term care may be more suited to my abilities and interests than acute care.

Need advice regarding what training or cerifications would make me more marketable in this area.

As a graduate from a diploma program, I have been a nurse since 1977. Have worked in long-term care for short intervals, but in the past had never really been interested in pursuing this alternative.

Thank you in advance for any information that would help.

When I started working at our local long term acute care hospital...they wanted us to have ACLS training...which I luckily had gotten when I worked at another hospital...

With that much experience under your belt, you will have not trouble marketing yourself to LTC. Good luck.

If you need to, we also have a LTC forum here at allnurses under the specialty tab where you can ask questions.

Thank you for the responses. I have discovered the LTC Forum (after posting here), and I thank you for your time
