400 job openings but you can't get an interview?

I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall here

I'm a new grad RN (already sat for NCLEX & passed) and I've been trying to get an interview with two large hospitals in my area for weeks now. I've sent resumes, I've phoned, I even went to a health career fair and spoke with the HR person. She says she's been sending my resumes to the nurse managers but I've yet to receive a call from any of them. They have over 400 jobs posted on their website.

I have other interviews set up with smaller hospitals and rehab centers but I'd love to interview at the big hospitals as well.

Any pearls of wisdom from you seasoned nurses?

Keep calling, and calling, and calling. And get specific names of each unit manager which you are applying to, and send your resume to them directly.I found that the big hospitals are so big, that if you dont be really agressive and hound them with correspondances, they tend to forget about you, no matter how many openings they have. They have alot of resumes to sort through. Its easy to get lost in the pile if you dont keep following uo and making yourself "known" and "motivated"
Good luck, they'll call!!!!

Find out the names of the hiring managers who got your resume. Then get their phone number and call them up and follow up on the phone. Try to get an interview that way. All they can say is no

[QUOTEThey have over 400 jobs posted on their website.QUOTE]

Some hospitals do that....it's a form of PR.
Are there any non-profit hospitals you could apply to?
Go to hospitalsoup.com and look for other hospitals in your area.
Good luck.

Same thing happened to me until I got a call.

Keep applying and keep improving your resume. It'll happen for you too.

Good luck!

Find the name of the managers of the units that you're interested in and drop them a nice card in the mail: briefly tell them who you are, that you have a resume on file, and that you'd love to a chance at a sit down with them.
