Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie... Read More

    Hi All

I am a student EN from Canberra in my second year of a 2 year PT course. I am looking to go right on to my RN/Midwifery at either Uni of Canberra or CSU via distance ed next year. I stumbled across allnurses by accident when looking for some critical thinking exercises, how lucky was that!! I am hoping to get work as an EN in a sexual health/family planning kind of location as soon as I finish this year but will honestly be ecstatic to have partially reached my lifetime goal of being a nurse no matter where I am!! Look fwd to chatting to you all and sharing experiences.

    Take care

Quick Question at what times do the Nursing shifts in Hospitals and Nursing homes usually begin and end in Adelaide.
    Only 6 more sleeps.:roll

They vary from place to place, but are more often as listed below.....

    Early shift [E] commences: 0700-1500
    Late shift [L] commences: 1400-2200/2230
    Night shift[N] commences: 2200-0700

    BEST WISHES!

    Hi Mez,

Great to see another Aussie on here :hatparty:

Just one warning from one student to another........this website is highly addictive, when you are at your computer and are meant to be studing.....somehow this website has 'popped up' on your screen and next thing that you know, it is hours later, no studying has gotten done, but you have caught up on the threads that interest you and have learnt lots :chuckle

    Or maybe thats just me

2nd year RN student (I passed my 1st year :hatparty: )

Thanks Grace for that, I was just trying to work out when I could work around Uni. Can't believe I'm finally flying out tomorrow afternoon. Tonight I'm going on a farewell cruise on the harbour. This week has been a lot of goodbyes and everytime I went anywhere I thought this is the last time I'll.... for a while at least.
Welcome Mez and congratulations Tina on passing your first year

Has anyone been watching the Commonweath Games? There has been some great moments of sport and mateship by all the countries.

certainly have ausnurse! agree, some great sporting moments. the most 'tragic' moment was when our male runner, in the 1500 i think it was, fell as a result of being knocked from behind by the person behind him who fell! i can't recall our boys name just now, but he was the favourite to win that race! yet, his attitude afterwards was inspiring! he turned something negative into a positive!
can't say i was overly impressed with the closing ceremony last night though. i reckon india in 2010 will be colourfu[color=gray]l!

Yes he was inspiring. Walking straight off the field just after the race but comming back a short time later after watching the race on tape to give an interview. Showing no malice and being very open. Great sportsmanship!
I especially liked watching the weight lifters, especially the two Aussie 105+ breaking the records one after each other. :spin:
