Anywhere else RNs can tap into?

  1. Dear all,

I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself in staying at my current job (Med Onc) nursing. It's not so much that I hate it per se but I just can't see myself going further into this. The ward routine is becoming dull, it's busy enough [with answering buzzers and processing admissions apart from the tasks you have to do] but not busy as in stimulating or inspiring... it's just repetitive and dull. I also do not see myself going up further in the ladder, no thanks. I can see what's the pressure like up there and my personality isn't a fit to become an ANUM/NUM. I also tried aged care nursing for a bit and honestly, I didn't like it either. Besides these avenues, acute and racf, is there anything else we could tap into? I'm interested in IT and already have a post grad on health services management (yeah, I'm all over the place)... I think my skills and interests lie elsewhere than bedside nursing any advice? I'm keen on getting into the health informatics side but don't know where to start.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

    Cheers!
