Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie chat. We can then discuss... Read More

I think it's a great idea, yanmah. I work in aged care and often hear some wonderful, weird and heartbreaking stories from former nurses.
Pls enlighten me with working in aged care... What is its advantages and disadvantages compared to working in a hospital... interms of pay, stress etc.

I am waiting for my confirmation to take the bridging program to become a nurse in Australia... Thanks you in advance.

    Hi!

I'm new here, rather shy, but I thought I'd be bold and say hi! I'm from Queensland, working for QHealth in Radiology at [I'd-rather-not-say] hospital. I've been in Radiology since July of 2008, and before that 2 years 3 months in Oncology. At the moment I'm looking at doing some further education, maybe a GradCert, but it's hard finding one that fits in to what I do at work.

And that's pretty much me in a nutshell.

    Hiya!

I'm new too. I'm a maybe-wannabe, not a student, haven't begun the application process, still just testing the waters and trying to find some caring volunteer work to get an idea of whether nursing might be right for me. I've spent the last few days poring over the forums so much that I think I know you all already! Eventually I might decide I've done all the reading I can and actually post with a few queries.

Slightly more off topic: I'm a Leo, 27, I currently live in Cardiff in the UK (Aus citizen, just doing some travel), I have an American boyfriend living in San Francisco, I love cats but I don't consider myself a crazy cat lady... Oh, I LOVE spinach on pizza! I'm a total nerd, I'm obsessed with www.etsy.com and I was born in Auckland and grew up in Perth!

    Cheers,
    Danielle

    Hi, I'm Alex.

I've just started Cert III in Aged Care at TAFE...

Single mum, juggling full time studies, two young children (both boys), school drop offs, daycare drop offs, (and pick ups!) a boyfriend, and two cats.

If I can manage all this then I reckon I can make it as an AIN... ya reckon???
