If you want to move states to find work, there are a few things you should prepare yourself for.
Mainly obtaining a licence before you go, or at least start the process rolling.
Getting your license for another state can be a time consuming process and may take patience

My own story of depression, medication, and gaining a deeper insight into the stigmas and avoidance of mental health discussions and stress management in nursing. This is a driving force behind my commitment to bridging the gap between nursing and stress management without fear of retaliation by focusing on preventative health measures.

I readily admit I have either bent or broken some rules that nurses are supposed to stringently uphold. However, I hope I'm not alone when I say that some of these rules seem so cold, bureaucratic and alien. If breaking a rule will make a patient's day a little brighter, if only for one moment, I will toss bureaucracy aside and do something that is normally forbidden.

During the process of orienting to the post, we had a presentation at the Army Education Center about using our Tuition Assistance (TA) dollars. I listened with interest because I knew I wanted to get started on my MSN as soon as I could. I learned that the Army has a...

The job of a school nurse is rarely just sitting around and passing bandaids and ice packs. From first aid to orthodontic assessment to counseling and that's usually just the students! - Just a snippet of my day earlier this week!

Patient satisfaction surveys are important in helping the healthcare facility to harvest data, discover perceptions of the care being rendered, and gather suggestions on how to improve. Since patient satisfaction surveys consist of subjective data instead of objective metrics, the responses should not be tied to Medicare reimbursement rates.

A plea for nurses everywhere that arose after a drive home reflection. Conflict is as much a part of our work environment as medication administration. Does it really have to be? We can choose our attitudes and begin to treat our coworkers like we treat our patients. With respect.

You know what I'm freaking sick of? Mixed-unit and mixed-discipline hostilities. Or at least that's what I call it. We're all on the same team. We all want what's best for the patient. We need to start acting like it.

What makes someone decide to take her own life? A nurse contemplates the stigma still attached, almost 30 years after her own suicide attempt. Most of the nursing community, the Christian community, even the general public, can't see mental illness for what it really is. What has your experience been? How do you feel about mental illness, recovery, and suicide?

A brief story of brief stupidity. The moment when I realized that a small mistake was actually a big mistake and that, that big mistake might ultimately lead to my death. How a little pill saved my life, and how a medic student was really the culprit behind said small mistake that was really a big mistake.

Some musings from a nurse in her mid-fifties who learns that she faces the possibility of losing the best nursing job she's ever held.......and ponders the question of whether it's time to make this 'best' nursing job her *last* nursing job.

It is easy to write the fluffy warm fuzzy stuff about the privilege of being a nurse and it truly is a privilege, but once in a while I get the urge to go naked. 'The Corporate Nurse' is one such article.
Nursing is a terrible beauty and sometimes the terrible aspects outweigh the beauty - that's all

Do you have an inner police officer living in your brain? Does it wake up and tell you when you should wash your hands or wear gloves?
Are you able to sanitize your hands immediately after shaking hands with somebody, or do you wait until you are out of site, for fear of appearing rude?
