Ah, the joys of stress and the work environment. Everyone has their own unique brand of coping. Some smoke, some gamble, some cry. I laugh. A lot. And I make it a point to laugh at myself first, early, and often. Ever do something so completely....well....stupid, that it actually pulls you from your sleep in the middle of the night to leave you shaking your head at yourself in the dark? This is one of those moments. And remember: Please do not try this at home.

For my fellow new grads! The UN-EMPLOYED ones! I thought this would help take your minds off the crap we go through daily. My hope is that you don't forget everything you have learned before you actually get to use it. 'Cause I can't remember half of my drugs! Enjoy.

I am an RN who's also a recovering(ed) alcoholic. I've found the judgmental attitudes of colleagues taking care of addicted patients disturbing. The purpose of this article is to, perhaps, get nurses to realize how powerful attitude can be when taking care of an addicted patient.

I have seen, first hand, the horrible things that can come from one slip. I have born witness to the terrible heartache of decisions forced because of untimely injury. Last night, a member of my family was saved from such a fate.

Not sure how many things I'll actually come up with, and these are things I wish I'd known, or that other people probably wish they'd known that I actually did know, and I turned out to be right...

An 'unforgettable patient' story about a farm boy from Nebraska whose serenity in the face of life-changing circumstances makes a lasting impression on the nurse who visits him on the farm to evaluate him for a move to assisted living.

When the last breaths are taken, the nurse will be there, at the bedside, preparing the patient and family, for what comes next. While we can perform miracles, sometimes the greatest miracle of all is the trust and faith given to nurses by the patient and their family. Those final moments are where we do our greatest work.

If you want to move states to find work, there are a few things you should prepare yourself for.
Mainly obtaining a licence before you go, or at least start the process rolling.
Getting your license for another state can be a time consuming process and may take patience

My own story of depression, medication, and gaining a deeper insight into the stigmas and avoidance of mental health discussions and stress management in nursing. This is a driving force behind my commitment to bridging the gap between nursing and stress management without fear of retaliation by focusing on preventative health measures.
