I was recently offered two modeling jobs -- one for a friend to help build his portfolio and one for a professional photographer who will be paying me for my time. As the title may intimate, both of these gigs involve posing... Read More

Are you kidding? " Who hasn't sent a dirty pic to someone?" This is Judge Judy territory. If people were rational and made good decisions all the time, how could I amuse myself after work watching these poor folks who have no judgement getting themselves into another pickle. I tend to learn from others' mistakes and sending out nude pics over a phone is a recurring theme amongst the clueless.
I know! Like sooo many people do that....or do they? Maybe I'm a prude! I did willingly participate in a video with an ex, but I was drunk. Even then, I realized what I had done and immediately erased it! Thank goodness.

Holy hannah, you guys. I got caught up in holiday fever (and the holiday schedule at work) and left the topic for a while. I was shocked (in a good way) to come back to 7 pages of (mostly) thoughtful, honest and non-judgmental thoughts on the topic. For that you all have my thanks.

I've decided to accept the offer to pose in an amateur capacity for my buddy's portfolio. The distribution circle will be much smaller and more controlled. Plus, I know him as a friend and he is also a nurse (though not at my facility). I trust his discretion. Modeling something I really want to try and this seems like the best balance of safe and adventurous. I'm turning down the pro gig for now. It guts me to have to do it, but the reality is that I have much less control over those photos. It's up to him entirely how he uses those works and where he displays them. While my real name and/or company logo won't be involved (I'd like to think I'm a little smarter than that) it's still my face (in addition to all the rest of me). I told him not to write me off completely and to keep me in mind for future projects. No sense in burning bridges and some day my position might be different.

The sad truth of the matter is that someone could recognize me, somewhere, somehow. While I'm reasonably confident that both my facility and my BON don't have a legal leg to stand on as far as disciplining or firing me for my decision to pose, there are a lot of other things they COULD do, which are legal. It stinks and it makes me really angry, because I feel like as a mature adult I should have the right to do as I wish within the bounds of the law. But another part of being a responsible adult (and a nurse) is to always CYA, and in this case that's what I have to do.

I feel like I've struck a good balance between being true to myself and refusing to be intimidated vs. putting myself in nebulous moral danger. I'd like to thank everyone that offered advice and humor and helped me sort myself out. Y'all are an invaluable resource and I'm lucky to have you.

Unfortunately, it is what it is, and that's out of your hands. At least you are fully aware of that, and so you made an educated decision.

Best of luck in your new sideline career!

That is the one I'd be less likely to pose for. What if down the road you two are not such great buddies? All he has to do is mention at work you posed nude for him, and he has the photos to prove it. This is a group of people there is a fairly good chance you will work with in the future. We all know nurses don't typically stay in the same job from graduation to retirement. I would be willing to bet that sooner or later you will run across someone at your job that knows about your pictures.

I am wondering why you would consider this knowing the potential consequences? Do you have aspirations of being a professional model or are you an exhibitionist? If the answer is neither then perhaps you have a self destructive side. Many famous actresses have done nude scenes in movies that they are ashamed of now.

I wouldn't shoot with the nurse buddy either. As a pro photog, I just don't recommend it. Don't shoot with amateurs.

How do I get a job posing nude? After not being able to eat, due to craziness at work, I'm looking pretty good naked. I'm ready to quit nursing and try something nude... I mean new.
