Long story short is that my newborn has been dropped from from my insurance. I've exhausted all other options and I'm left with:

1. Leave my baby uninsured for a Year

2. Change employment status (leave my job)

3. Get a divorce

After lots of thought, option two is the best choice. My problem is I am in a contract for one more year! Do I break my contract to get my baby health insurance? I'm stressed to the max!

Ive talked to insurance advisors, dept of labor, Hr, mgt. And the icing on the cake is that I will be fined for no insurance despite my efforts.

Because I was unaware of the 30 day limit to add her to my plan. I thought she was covered because I was paying and enrolled in an employee plus family plan. I thought I could just add her as a dependent but apparently not. It's considered a "life changing event" and I missed my 30 day window, and all other open enrollment periods.

Open enrollment starts again in November. Can you hold out until then? Do you have a sick baby?

But coverage doesn't take effect until February 2015. Baby is well, but her apts and check ups! God forbid she does get sick....I'm torn. I want to stay as I like my job, but I have offers with day one benefits. And I don't want to break the contract, but I'm drowning in medical bills ...obamacare will fine me too.

What about state children's health insurance plan (sCHIP )? There will be a premium but if ineligible for your plan she should be eligible for chip

If you got divorced it would let you add your child only drop your spouse.

Idk if your employer offers a health savings plan, but if they do, that may be a great thing to get you through till February. I haven't had insurance for four years now (and won't till August) but my partner has a HSA which covers prescriptions and expenses.

Don't qualify (income) for CHIP, obamacare fines for no insurance (based on income, over a grand), and private Insurance is so limited (due to obamacare open enrollment ending, regulations) ...it's huge deductible, no primary care, huge monthly payment (worthless). Ugh.

I was thinking switching job would be easier than getting a divorce.

Affordable WITHIN open enrollment which ended back in march. NOW all that is left is the unregulated (no min coverage) plans. From what I've found, the insurance companies last attempt to make money.
