2005: NurseWeek: Why Nurse Activism? : :

‘‘Save one life, you’re a hero; save 100 lives, you’re a nurse” is a saying popularized by the Nebraska Nurses’ Association. So why after saving 100 lives, would a nurse feel compelled to do more? Thank you for this post. As I end the 3rd year of my BSN program I think this where I am headed. I'm going to get my Phd and do what I can for all those struggling nurses out there! Thanks for an important post!

As I have gotten older and practiced longer I have FINALLY understood the importance of nurses embracing activism. It is our duty to the public and our profession. Those nurseswho have went before us have paved the way and it is up to us to continue with those same responsibilities.
